Broadway World (land of all of the typos) is hosting a contest in which entrants post videos of themselves singing Sondheim songs in efforts to win a trip to see Follies in LA. And this kid is awesome.
I’m listening to Merrily We Roll Along today because I’m seeing it at City Center next week, and I’m so freaking excited. And when “Not A Day Goes By” came on it’s like Steve siphoned off part of my brain and wrote a song about it, except that I was not yet born when he wrote this song, so I guess it couldn’t have been my brain. And like, of course it’ll get better, and I’m not worried about that, but seriously…not a fucking day goes by.
(Bernie really is brilliant here. I love how she’s able to insert such immense frustration into “after day.” This is also, of course, before her head voice disappeared and she got the chance to wreak havoc on all those soprano moments in Follies. How unfortunate that was.)
