Guys (part 2)
Exes are going to have successes (and failures).  I’d hardly call standing-in for Justin Timberlake the pinnacle of an acting career - it’s definitely something - but it’s not like he’s opening a movie at Cannes.  Nonetheless, I hope that each of my exes is successful in what he’s set out to do, in part because that ultimately validates a bit of the reason why I was...

Guys
I just found out that my college boyfriend is playing Justin Timberlake’s stand-in in whatever JT’s next movie is for at least this week even though he looks almost nothing like Justin.  This means I will be just two degrees of separation from Justin Timberlake (and three from BRITNEY!!!!!).  I’m treating this as evidence that I’ve really made something of my life.

– Sasha Frere Jones recap gets in the best dig yet at Chris Brown’s 81 performances at the Grammys. I was hoping that at the end of that performance he was going to jump from the top of the set, Black Swan style, but no luck. (via rookiemag)

My Boss: Daniel. Over/Under on how many times you sing West Side Story while you're in Puerto Rico. 2? 2.5?
Me: I think you're WAY under.

And Before You Know Where You Are, There You Are
I saw Merrily We Roll Along last night at City Center Encores.  It’s probably my favorite of all musical theater scores, yet until last night I had never actually seen the show.  So before I talk about my experience at last night’s performance, it seems appropriate to travel backward in time a little bit.  When I was 16 and a newly licensed automobile operator, I trekked around to all of the local...

People Planning Weddings are THE WORST
Coworker: i need your help on something not work-related. most of the people in my bridal party already know that they'll be in my bridal party, but i want to do something fun to formally ask them to be in it. i was trying to write a short poem for each of them... but that got really hard. any ideas of what i can do? i was thinking maybe create a Prezi for each of them and send them the link
me: hmmmm.....no specific ideas at the moment, but we could brainstorm over dinner
Coworker: yes
me: i'll think about a bit today
Coworker: i was gonna, like, send them a box of fretzels, but they're expensive. i could do an e-card of some sort
me: let's table for a while
Coworker: but i wanna do iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit :-P
me: you can wait another 8-10 hours
Coworker: NO. I CANNOT.
me: oh my god

The good news is that The Voice makes a great soundtrack to this. (Editor’s Note: This compressed really terribly.)
